The Wire star, who is a longtime fan of the Arsenal football team and a keen cricket fan, was on hand for the title game pitting Texas Southern University versus in-state rival Prairie View A&M University.
The Southwestern Athletic Conference is made up of historically black Southern universities and Idris was there to lend his support.

He was joined at the tournament by 35-year-old Tatyana Ali best known for her childhood role as Ashley Banks on The Fresh Prince Of Bel-Air.
The former Love That Girl! star has been a supporter of the Toyota Green Initiative that has worked with America's historically black colleges to promote eco-friendly alternatives.
Crisis actor Lance Gross, 32, also attended the tournament championship game.

Idris earlier this month attended a Westminster Abbey tribute for former South Africa president Nelson Mandela who died in December at age 95.
The actor played the former president and anti-apartheid revolutionary in the biopic Mandela: Long Walk To Freedom.
Idris can next be seen in the crime thriller No Good Deed due out in September and The Gunman with Javier Bardem and Sean Penn due out later this year.
