Police Set to Prosecute Security Officer over attempted murder






One Joy Amobi, 27, a worker with Bermil Security agency has been paraded by Nigerian police at Lagos State Police Public Relation office Ikeja, over a said attempt to murder a lad named Uziyah Danjuma. A brief to the pressmen by the state police public relation officer, DSP Ngozi Braide explained that  on the 29th of February, Onikan Police station got an information over a ten years old girl name Uziah Danjuma who was hospitalized as a result of injury suffered in the hand of her gurdian.
According to her, on getting to the hospital which its name is not disclosed, the police team that went on the inspection discovered that the reported girl was at the hospital with her face and neck battered with injury which also caused from her head to neck swollen. The girl was later referred to  the military hospital at Awolowo Road Ikoyi for better treatment.
she added:” while the girl was at the hospital, a Non Governmental Organization, NGO, Named The Hands that care which is owned by Formal Inspector General of police, Mike Okiro, was informed by one Mrs Juliet Agwu in the hospital and formally took up the case as a fight against child abuse in the society. The NGO contacted the police having noticed that the injury caused the young girl was overbearing for her while the medical bill of the treatment was settled”.
The state police public relation officer also added that the case has been forwarded to the state Criminal Investigative Department at Panti where the suspect will be investigated further.
Meanwhile, while at the State Criminal Investigative Department at panti, a man was said appeared and claimed to be the father of the victim, pleading for the release of the lady. He was said begging the police authority for the release of joy while she should not be prosecuted, but the NGO disagreed, saying that a justice to the case will serve a lesson for people with such act in the society.
DSP Ngozi further said the case has already been concluded while the girl will be charged to court. She also affirmed that the legal department of the force will determine whether the case is an attempt murder with the help of the NGO which has been working assiduously with the force.
The suspect however claimed that the victim was only slightly beaten with a spatula while she spotted her urinating in a wrong place in the house.  Joy who claimed to be the working staff of Bemil Security agency and serve at First bank  plc, ikeja branch, said having realized the injury caused theyoung girl took her she a hospital named Royal hospital At Ajah  where she was refered to Bonny camp hospital.  She also added that from there, the young girl was also referred to Onikan Hospital for treatment. Joy maintained that she was caught with surprise when the team of police arrived to take up the case with her as she never meant evil but just to discipline the young girl.
Meanwhile,  a representative of the NGO that took over the case, The Hand That Care, Mrs Nwakego Jacinta, while confirming the incident to the pressmen at the Police Office said that she received a called from one Mrs Juliet Agwu that a young girl has been beaten to a coma. And as one of the callings of her organization, she said she immediately responded to the call, and on getting there, she met the ten years old girl lingering in a big pain. “I was called by Mrs Julie Agwu over a girl that was beaten to coma. When we got there, the girl was only at the mercy of God because no one could think she will survive such injury. Her face was blocked totally with her head to neck swollen up. Seeing this, we took up the case and inform the police to safe the young girl because the beaten was beyond discipline”, she said.
Another member of the NGO at the parade, Pastor Sandra Onuorah while fielding question from the journalist over the incident, confirmed that the girl was is coma when they got to the hospital. She maintained that a girl of such age is never permitted to be such beaten under whatever the case may be. She also pleaded the journalist and the police to ensure that proper justice is done to the case in order to curb the perpetration of such act in the society. Meanwhile, the state Police Public Relation Officer, DSP Ngozi has concluded that the case will be taken to court with joy facing law for prosecution.
