According to those that witnessed the accident, no lives were lost but the accident caused gridlock of traffic on the road.
When newsmen got to the scene of the incident, the content of the tanker were seen spilling into the drainage nearby while some policemen and LASTMA officials at the scene were seen questioning the driver of the tanker.

An attempt to get the tanker's plate number and the identity of the company that owns the tanker was futile as there was no name on the tanker and the policemen did not allow pictures to be taken.
A building material trader in the area, Azubuike Emmanuel, while commenting on the incident, questioned why the LASTMA officials at the scene are not telling them anything nor taking steps to stop the spillage.

He said: "We don't know what is going on because since the police and LASTMA officials arrived here they are not telling us what to do to prevent any danger that might likely arise from this spillage. They have been busy directing trafiic."
It could be recalled that only recently a tanker fell and burst into flames killing at least 15 people in the Olodi Apapa area of Lagos state.
